Interstellar: A Realistic Spatial Adventure

A landscape of Moon light. Personal photo.

Have you ever wondered about the infinity of the universe? About the uniqueness of our species? Or what would happened if you are near a black hole? Well, if you are trended by these mysteries, I recommend to take a free time to go to your nearest theater to watch the new breathtaking and intergalactic movie, Interstellar. A movie ticket that is worth paying for. A chance to be submerged into a realistic space journey to distant galaxies that puts our imagination to new a level. A choice that humanity have taken to look for alternate solutions for their existence. In short, interstellar is challenge one of the most remarkable questions for man, the universe Although Interstellar portrays Earth’s extension in distant future, Nolan breaks the barriers of cinematography by submerging the audience into an epic intergalactic adventure; and putting human touch and science in a single page.

Let’s start by looking at how easy this motion picture can turned you into an astronaut for 3 hours of your life. As always being a fan of Nolan’s work, I have caught his usual style for filming. He always tries to make it as real and human as possible. In this case, he settles down on a futuristic humanity at the edge extension who only depends on farming to survives, in other words, to harvest food. Therefore, we, humans, or NASA, sends a group of qualified astronauts to find another planet that can be habitable by us. Furthermore, in the transition as we, the audience, are being familiarized with traveling to space, we begin to feel anxious to see how Nolan is going to take us to the galaxy. I felt as we were departing from Earth, and at the same time, as I was leaving the cinema. After a couple of minutes we were looking at Earth from a distant point in space, were silence was the best sound.

Even though he wants us to feel it real the sounds for each scene created the perfect sensation. The sound was so significant that they, sort of, fit on each situation. Drama, suspense, sadness, you named it! In addition, knowing that they might not survive or they might not even find a solution, intrigues you to know what is going to happen next. So, as it takes us to gaze at amazing landscapes of vast universe, at outstanding wormholes, black holes, planets that have never being seen by humans, we realized that these shocking scenes can make us feel as they were real, and as we were truly there.
Even though, Interstellar seems to be only focus on fictional topics, what make is it different is how the importance of human love can overpass science. Nola’s style has always being spinning around serious themes, and controversial situations. On the contrary, his new film seems to be going through a similar track, but you can notice how Nolan always goes back to emotional contexts. In short, the film is always taking you back to the emotional conflicts that the protagonists have during the journey, as leaving their love ones, family and their whole life, forever. If you think about, it scares; at the same time, it lets you know that how emotions and feelings can lead to do brave things, for instance, saving the human spice.

In summary, Interstellar, can be seemed as a common fictional motion production, with fictional situations that do not have reliance for us to see it. However, this single motion picture could how show us how vast the universe is, and to show us something that can be impossible for us to see in real life. Also, Nolan takes the significance of the human emotions over the advances of science, exposing how the human feelings can achieve bigger things that science cannot understand.
